The book progresses at a good pace, beginning with the basics and ending with high-school level material. Highly recommended.
Mel Bay’s Drum Set Tunes
This is a great drum set learning book. It contains 23 solos designed to get intermediate drum set players comfortable playing the entire drum set in a variety of styles. It progresses nicely from easy to more advanced, though the later solos are of equal difficulty. This book should be used after drummers can read drum music, play drum set beats, and play drum fills.
Realistic Rock Drum Set
Develop limb independence and coordination with the exercises in this great book. Designed for rock and pop drummers to master advanced beats and develop freedom in their drum set playing. I consider this book essential for drummers wishing to pursue rock, metal, progressive, and other technical metal. Highly recommended.
Drum Practice Pad
Practice Pad for Snare Drum
There are a variety of practice pads that work well for drummers to practice exercises and technique. These rubber pads fit on top of a snare drum, but can be used without a drum which is useful when drummers are traveling. Ask your drum teacher for other suggestions.
