What You Need to Learn Drums
In order to learn drums, it is necessary for drummers to practice the lessons and techniques assigned by their drum teacher. In order to practice your drum lesson, it is necessary to have some equipment available for your use. Don’t worry, the equipment required is minimal and can be very inexpensive, especially if you consult your drum teacher for advice. Here I will explain what is required to begin taking drum lessons, and what may be required as you progress as a drummer.

This article will describe how to use the toms and snare drum from your drum set as a substitute for timpani when practicing at home. If your school or orchestra can not accommodate your timpani practice schedule, practicing at home can be a life saver.

I’m In The School Band – Should I Take Private Lessons?
Band teachers appreciate having students who take private lessons in the band. Students who are privately taught tend to advance faster and with greater comprehension than those who are not. Having these students in the band improves the overall quality of the band performance. The increased proficiency of the students who take private lessons can also benefit those students who do not take private lessons.
Drum Lesson Policy
Students should practice daily between lessons. Beginning students should practice 20 minutes daily; Intermediate students 30-60 minutes daily; Advanced students 60 minutes daily. Lesson time is not practice time. Please come prepared.
